Regret ... we didn’t connect the dots

After weeks of writing countless drafts I find myself, yet again, starting over. I am beginning to regret using the title Regret. While logic says, then change the title of the painting…..that thought is much more horrifying.

Typically we feel regret when we have been taken away from a person, place, or thing. Or, a person, place, or thing is quickly sucked away from us. It is easy to think, ‘I should have done this or that’…But the regret that usually hangs around our necks, the heaviest is when we didn’t connect the dots. Then we think, ‘what if’…

Remember that circumstance, that perhaps we simply lacked the wisdom, the vision, the courage, the faith…to connect those tiny specks of time? Yep, that’s the one.

So how can we avoid this offensive thing called regret?

We need to:

Choose wisely which dots should be connected.
Train our vision to see dots that are currently invisible.
Exercise our courage to connect.
Have faith that the dots that have and have not been connected are that way for a purpose.

  2. Elise, that's deep. I have a new found respect for you and your work. First thought was that looks nice but now understand that as so often is the case there's more to what's seen. The 'Last Supper' for example. Thank you for sharing.
