Heavenly |
Your first thought may be, “why isn’t this painting mostly or all white?” Well, that’s easy to answer…..
I don’t see Heavenly as ethereal, quite the opposite in fact. If something is Heavenly then it possesses great substance. It provides tremendous comfort, a place I don’t want to leave. It arrests me and I don’t want to be freed. It’s fascinating and mysterious. It’s a place, a feeling, a moment, that I don’t want an explanation for. I just want to close my eyes and be happy and content that I am there.
There is a weightlessness to it but not in the sense of light and airy. You know when someone hugs you and picks you up? Your feet are not touching the ground but you are not floating. Your movement is limited but you are safe, secure, and comfortable. That’s where my Heavenly takes me, my feet are floating but I have never felt so grounded.
I used a silver metallic paint and as a result it is challenging to photograph. Here are some other pics; close-ups and different angles. |

Wow! I really love how you voiced your thoughts through this painting and the analogy you used about being hugged and picked up. I love the idea of heaven being an all-encompassing comfort with *substance,* as you say.
